Matthias Nuessgen

Vice Executive Director, Strategist

Matthias has been in close contact with Eurist right from the beginning but has started to take more responsibility on a daily basis in February 2013.

He is a Geographer and Urban Planner who has been working on sustainable Transport from many different perspectives.

In 2005 he joined the Consultant firm Prointec in Madrid as a consultant on urban planning and sustainable urban transport. Two years later he formed a new transport department in the company`s Office in Seville.
With Prointec he worked on various Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans, Viability studies for public transport, Regional and urban transport strategies, and strategies for the improvement of Non Motorized Transport.

In 2009 he became an independent consultant based in Seville where he worked on various railroad projects for the "Junta de Andalucía", cooperated with a Seville-based Architect in accessibility projects looking at "walkability and cyclability" of urban space, and worked for the "City of Seville" as content manager of the 2011 Velo-city conference. (see www.urbanalternatives.eu)

Between 2011 and 2013 he worked as an urban planner in an office near Heidelberg / Germany.

Matthias was always interested in using the synergies of a full integration of Urban Planning and Transport Planning to create liveable urban spaces and foster a behavioral change towards Public and Non Motorized Transport modes.
